Who we are

At Reel Fits, Adam Reel and Bill Hellwig empower cyclists with comprehensive fitting techniques that take into account each rider as an individual. No rider is the same, why settle for cookie cutter componentry and fit positions?

We believe that most cyclists from commuters to recreational cyclists to the most performance-driven racers can benefit from a proper bike fit. Adam and Bill are multidisciplinary riders, understanding the needs of all types of rider no matter experience, fitness, or discipline.

Our Approach

We blend extensive experience, personalization, and current technology to deliver comprehensive bike fits.

Fitters

Adam is an International Bike Fit Institute Level 2 Bike Fitter, completed Triathlon/TT fit training through Slowtwitch Fit Academy, and has studied under some of the best fitters in the world including master bike fitter and IBFI Level 4 fitter, Wendy Holliday.

Adam excels at bicycle technology and understanding bicycle geometry having spent nearly a decade in the bike industry. He deeply understands the latest trends in cycling, especially the ones that keep you comfortable and fast in the saddle.

Adam fell in love with bikes after graduating from college and playing Division I football. Looking for something to fill the competitive void and to stay in shape, bikes were Adam's answer.

Adam's cycling experience is expansive. He has competed in track cycling, triathlon, mountain bike races, and cyclocross. His true love is long distance self-supported bike touring, completing several long tours including a 4,200 mile Trans-American trip.

He lives in Vienna, Virginia with his wife, daughter, and his dog Margot.

Bill Hellwig

Bill Hellwig has 17 years of bike fitting experience across multiple disciplines including road, mountain, gravel, triathlon and time trailing bikes. On top of his nearly two decades of experience, he has completed training through Trek Precision Fit and Slowtwitch Fit Academy. His credentials include fitting Cyclocross National Champions, Virginia State Time Trail Champions, and qualifiers, and Triathlon Worlds podium contenders.

Bill comes from a running background but transitioned to the bike in 1970 after injury. He transitioned from a runner to a Triathlete, seeing strong results locally and nationally. He discovered that cycling was his favorite of the three sports and rode as a sponsored mountain bike and cyclocross racer for Nantucket Nector/Specialized until an injury forced him step away from high-level racing.

Bill's passion now is traveling and riding gravel roads all over the world. He has ridden five Unbound Gravel events in Kansas, a race that has stolen his heart.

He resides between Falls Church and his home in Deal, Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay. He spends his time riding, fitting, and lugging his 8 bikes back and forth from Virginia to Maryland.
